Privacy Notice

Effective and last updated: November 7, 2026.

Who we are

Hunch Call Lab (hunchlab.app) is operated by Raymond Conklin, who decides how personal information in the Lab is used (the "controller"). You can reach us at raymond@theconklingroup.com. This notice explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and your choices.

What we collect

Sign-in: you sign in with Microsoft Entra External ID using an email one-time code. Microsoft holds your email address; we receive an account identifier and do not store your email address. Profile: your public handle and, if you give it, your first name (private, used only for a greeting). Play data: your forecasts and private notes, watchlist, notification and alert settings, Calibration Trainer answers when you are signed in, your points ledger, circle membership, responsible-play settings (limits, breaks, exclusions), and a record of the age confirmation and Terms and Privacy versions you accepted, with the time. Messages: anything you send through the contact form, an optional reply address, and a one-way code made from your internet address that changes every day and cannot be turned back into the address. Technical: your IP address, browser type and request times in security and server logs, and short-term counters used to stop abuse.

How we use it and why

To run the game, score your forecasts and show your results (to perform our agreement with you). To keep the Lab safe, prevent abuse and enforce limits and exclusions (our legitimate interest, and responsible play). To answer your messages and requests. To fix problems and improve the Lab using aggregate results. To meet legal obligations. We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects by automated means. We use no advertising and no tracking for advertising.

Who sees what

Your public handle can appear on Call Cards, circles and leaderboards. Your notes, first name, watchlist, alerts, Trainer answers and responsible-play settings are private to you. Circle members see your handle and accuracy statistics in that circle. Public profile and leaderboard visibility follows your settings, and by default you are not listed globally.

Who helps us

We use service providers who process data for us under their own terms: Microsoft Azure (hosting, database, secrets storage and static website delivery, in the United States), Microsoft Entra External ID (sign-in), Azure AI Translator (only the text of questions, never your handle, notes or other personal information), and Cloudflare (domain name service). We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we disclose it to others only when the law requires, to protect rights and safety, or in a sale or reorganisation of the Lab.

International transfers

The Lab is hosted in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy law may differ from yours. Our providers apply their own safeguards, such as standard contractual terms.

Cookies and browser storage

We use no advertising cookies, analytics cookies or third-party trackers. Your browser stores a few things the Lab needs: your language choice, your sign-in session (managed by the Microsoft sign-in library), and, if you use the Trainer without an account, your practice results on your own device. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings; the Lab will then ask for your language and sign-in again.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account your handle becomes an anonymous label, your first name and private notes are erased, your watchlist, preferences, alerts, notifications and Trainer history are removed, and you leave your circles. Your forecast scores stay in totals, no longer linked to a name. The points ledger is a permanent record kept for integrity, with the name removed; play points have no cash value. Contact messages are deleted after 90 days once handled, 7 days if spam, and 180 days if never handled. Security and server logs are kept for a limited time. You can also delete your Trainer history on its own.

Your rights and choices

You can download a copy of your data and delete your account on the My data page, change your handle, first name and notification settings in Settings, and manage limits and breaks in Responsible play. You may also ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your information, or object to a use, by emailing us. If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland you have these rights under data protection law and may complain to your local data protection authority. If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the rights that law gives, including to know, delete and correct, and not to be discriminated against for using them; we do not sell or share personal information for advertising. We may need to confirm it is you, and we aim to answer within 30 days. If you are on a self-exclusion, deletion waits until it ends.

Security

We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls, secret storage, rate limits and logging, and we keep only what we need. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

The Lab is for people 18 and over and is not directed to children. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will close it and delete their information.

No money handled

The Lab handles no payment cards, bank details or other payment information. If that ever changes, we will update this notice and ask you to accept it before we collect anything.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice. The current version and its date are shown on this page. When a change is important we will ask you to accept the new version before you continue. Where this page is shown in another language, the English text controls.
